Federal Ministry of Education Strengthens Early Childhood Education in Katsina

KATSINA – The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to improving Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programs in Katsina State during a high-level visit to the state's Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education on February 17, 2025.

The delegation, led by Mrs. Stella from the Department of Basic Education, was received by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, alongside the Executive Chairman of Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). Key stakeholders, including Permanent Secretary Hajiya Ummulkhairi Ahmed Bawa, directors, and members of the SUBEB management team, also participated in the discussions.

The meeting focused on strategies to enhance foundational education for children in Katsina, with key discussions covering:

  • Strengthening ECCD programs to ensure children receive a solid academic foundation.
  • Improving access to quality early education by addressing challenges and exploring opportunities for expansion.
  • Enhancing collaboration between federal and state education authorities to reinforce early childhood education initiatives.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of federal and state education bodies to prioritizing early childhood learning, aiming to equip children with the necessary skills for lifelong academic success. The partnership is expected to lead to significant improvements in early education policies and implementation in Katsina State.
